Destination Guardians – Center for Preservation and Development is an association created out of a sincere need to preserve what has been entrusted to us – the nature, identity and spirit of our regions, but also to develop these resources wisely, responsibly and in the long term.
We believe that a destination is not just a place on a map.
A destination is a story, a landscape, a person, a custom and a heritage that is passed down through the generations.
We are working on it
- protect natural and cultural values,
- support the development of sustainable and responsible tourism,
- strengthen local communities through knowledge, partnerships and concrete projects,
- preserve the authenticity of the space from uncontrolled exploitation and oblivion.
What are we keeping?
We protect mountains, forests, villages, trails, traditions and people.
We protect the right of a destination to develop in harmony with nature, not to its detriment.
We pay special attention to:
- rural and eco-tourism,
- to protect natural areas and landscapes,
- preserving local identity and cultural heritage,
- education and raising awareness about the importance of sustainable development.
How we operate
Our work is based on concrete activities, not just ideas:
- initiation and implementation of development and environmental projects,
- cooperation with local communities, institutions and businesses,
- support for responsible tourism and infrastructure initiatives,
- promotion of good practices and examples that show that a balance between development and conservation is possible.
